 NEW TICKET OFFICE A SUCCESS

STATION STAFFED AGAIN AFTER 40 YEARS

Wymondham Historic Railway Station recently had a staffed ticket office again for nearly 5 years, after a gap of almost 40 years when the station was unmanned. The new office was officially opened on an experimental basis on Friday 4th November 2005, and the ceremony was covered by Anglia Television News and the local newspapers. The experiment was very successful and, as well as continuing on a permanent basis and winning a National Rail Award, the initiative then prompted a further reopening at neighbouring Attleborough station.

THE NEW TICKET OFFICE IS NORMALLY OPEN ON MONDAY TO FRIDAY MORNINGS UNTIL 10.15am

NATIONAL EXPRESS EAST ANGLIA HAVE NOW UNFORTUNATELY WITHDRAWN STAFFING FROM WYMONDHAM "UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE" - May 2010.

ALL TICKETS CAN NOW BE PURCHASED ON THE TRAIN.

WE ARE HOPING THAT THIS RETROGRADE MOVE BY NATIONAL EXPRESS DOES NOT MEAN THAT THE OFFICE WILL REMAIN CLOSED PERMANENTLY.

THE FARES AND OTHER INFORMATION SHOWN HERE OF COURSE REMAINS VALID.

Wymondham Ticket Office sells a full range of “walk-on” tickets (ie: those not requiring any advance reservation) for both local and long distance journeys. Whether it’s Attleborough or Aberdeen, Kings Lynn or Kings Cross – it's no problem! Train times and information are available for National Express Train services throughout East Anglia as well as for other operators across the whole of the National Rail network. National Express East Anglia Wymondham looks forward to being of assistance with all your rail travel plans.

For regular commuters, point-to-point 7-Day season tickets are available, as well as a range of “Anglia Plus” 7-Day, 1 Month & Annual seasons, which offer excellent value for money. Please enquire for details of current rates and note that, if you are buying a season ticket for the first time, you will need to provide a passport sized photo.

Wymondham is served by hourly trains on the Norwich to Cambridge route, with some additional services at peak times. Connections are available at Cambridge with National Express services to Liverpool Street, First Capital Connect trains to Kings Cross and Cross Country Trains direct to Stansted Airport. Change at Ely for connections to Kings Lynn, March, Peterborough and East Midlands Trains and Cross Country Trains services to the Midlands and North West. Connections can be made at Norwich with National Express East Anglia local services to Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft and Sheringham as well as with mainline services to Diss, Stowmarket, Ipswich, Colchester and London Liverpool Street.

Travelling to London? Avoid the queues and buy your London Underground tickets and Travelcards right here in Wymondham!

What about booking tickets in advance?

If you can book well in advance and are able to specify your exact train times both ways, you may be able to obtain a cheaper ticket. From Wymondham, such tickets are available to London via Norwich only. To get the cheapest fares, always travel outside rush hours and preferably midweek rather than at weekends. You can book on-line right now by clicking the Trainline advertisement to the right.

Remember, if you're travelling from Wymondham to London via Cambridge, or for local journeys to Cambridge, Peterborough, Norwich, Sheringham, Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft, there are no Advance Fares, so just buy your ticket on the day of travel at the ticket office when it's open or from the Conductor on the train at other times.

Please note that you cannot collect pre-booked tickets at Wymondham - you should allow at least 5 days for tickets to be posted out to you from The Trainline. It is possible to collect such tickets from the self-service machines at Norwich Station - you need to specify this as your chosen collection point when making your booking. If you do intend to collect at Norwich, please ensure you have with you the 8 character (letters & numbers) reference number generated and the same payment card you used when booking.
